In the ADMINISTRATION block on the left side of the page, navigate to Site administration and click it to expand the menu. Click Courses and then Manage courses and categories.
Even if no content has been created yet, you’ll see a Miscellaneous category. This is because all courses must be in a category.
You can use the Miscellaneous category if you just want everything to be in one place, or you can create categories that make sense with the courses you want to create. Click Create new category to get started.
On the Add new category page, choose a parent category from the drop-down and name your category. If you choose Top, this will be a top-level category. If you choose Miscellaneous it will be nested within this category. Once some more categories have been created, you’ll have the option to nest categories within ones that have already been created. If you want to reference categories by ID number you can add it here, but we don’t use this feature for our categories. You can also add a description if you’d like. Click Create category at the bottom when you’re done.
You will now see your category on the Manage courses and categories page.
