To add an assessment to your course, first make sure you have editing turned on and then click Add an activity or resource in the section where you want the quiz to appear.
Select Quiz from the list of activities then click Add.
Give the assessment a name and fill in a description if you want to.
You can leave the rest of the settings as they are, or change them to suit your needs. In the Timing section, you can leave the quiz open or choose when it will expire. You can also set a time limit.
Next, decide the parameters for grading the quiz. We like to allow 3 attempts, but you should choose whichever settings will work for you.
You can control the layout of the quiz by deciding whether the questions will all be on one page or setting parameters for new pages. You can also allow free navigation or display questions sequentially.
Choose whether you want to shuffle within questions and how you want feedback to be delivered. We like the "interactive with multiple tries" option.
In the Review options section, you can leave the defaults or choose specific settings. We use the default for the "interactive with multiple tries" option.
In the Appearance section, you can choose how the user's image will appear to the side of the quiz and set some grading options.
Use the next section to place restrictions on attempts if you need to add extra security to your assessment.
Use the Overall feedback section to add general quiz feedback. You will also have the opportunity to add feedback to each question.
Fill in the next section if your organization is using common module settings.
Expand the Restrict access section and add restrictions if you want to make any prerequisites for this quiz activity.
In the Activity completion section, you can decide how completion tracking and grading will work for this quiz.
If you are using tags to track user interests, you can add them in the next section.
When you're ready, click Save and return to course to go back to the course page or Save and display to go to the quiz page.
