Add a video to your library

If you're building a course that will have video activities, you'll need to add them to the video library. In the ADMINISTRATION block on the left, expand the Video library options and choose Add new video.

Add new video option

Give your video a title and a short title. It's okay if you use the same name for both. You can add a description if you'd like one for reference, but this will not appear in your course.

Video title

The next two features are optional. If you captioned your video and have captions in the SRT or WEBVTT file format, you can drag the file in. If you want the transcript of the captions to show beneath the video player on the course page, click the checkbox. We divide our templates into paragraphs or "chapters". If you would like to do this, you can download the template file titled Chapters.vtt and use its formatting. Be sure to click the checkbox to format the transcript.

Captions

The next section is required and this is where you'll drag in your video file. It can be in any of the formats listed below.

The next step is not required. The only time a thumbnail added here will appear is for a video in a course that is marked as the default. When you build a course, you will have a checkbox option to mark a video as the default and do not need to specify that in the video library. We always make the first video in our course the default and add an image. That image will appear in the video player when you navigate to the course page. If you do not add an image, you may find that a blurry image appears in the player.

When you are finished with the form, click Save changes at the bottom of the page.

Save

You will see a message that your video has been uploaded. It may take several minutes before your video appears in the library.
